The price of raw milk in Ukraine has reached average European levels

 

As of January 1, 2024, the price of raw milk in Ukraine increased by 0.08 UAH on average. The current purchase price corresponds to the average European level and the existing balance of supply and demand for raw milk in the domestic market, — says the analyst of the Association of Milk Producers, Georgy Kukhaleishvili.

The average purchase price of Extra Grade milk as of January 1 amounted to 14.70 UAH/kg without VAT, which is 0.09 UAH higher than a month ago. The price range for this grade in farms varies from 14.00 to 15.20 UAH/kg without VAT. The lower limit of the price range has not changed, and the upper limit has increased by 0.20 UAH for the last month.

Higher Grade costs 14.70 UAH/kg without VAT on average. Over the last month, the price of this grade has increased by 0.09 UAH. Prices for Higher Grade milk range from 14.00 to 15.20 UAH/kg without VAT. The lower limit of the price range has not changed, and the upper limit has increased by 0.20 UAH.

The average price of Grade I milk amounted to 13.52 UAH/kg without VAT and increased by 0.05 UAH compared to the results of monitoring on December 10. The minimum price in farms was 13.00 UAH/kg, which is 0.20 UAH more compared to the results of monitoring on December 10. The maximum price for Grade I was 14.28 UAH/kg, which is 0.08 UAH more compared to last month.

Accordingly, the weighted average price of three grades amounted to 14.32 UAH/kg without VAT and increased by 0.08 UAH.

Georgy Kukhaleishvili notes that in December 2023, the price of raw milk in Ukraine reached the current average European levels, as it was on the Ukrainian market in 2020−2021. The current purchase price corresponds to the balance of demand and supply of raw milk, which was formed in the domestic market. As of now, the supply of raw milk in Ukraine is approximately at the same level as the needs of milk of processing enterprises.
