Milk prices are stable, but demand is low

The growth of prices for raw milk in Ukraine slowed down in early September against the background of the cessation of dairy product exports to the EU and the lack of demand from dairy processing enterprises, reports Georgy Kukhaleyshvili, an analyst of the Association of Milk Producers.
The average purchase price of Extra Grade milk as of September 9 was 17.45 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.65 UAH more than in the previous month. The price range for this grade in farms varies from 17.00 to 18.20 UAH/kg excluding VAT.
Higher Grade costs on average 17.15 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.55 UAH more than a month ago. Prices for Higher Grade milk range from 16.80 to 17.60 UAH/kg excluding VAT.
The average price for Grade I milk was 16.80 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.60 UAH more than the previous month. The minimum price in farms was 16.50 UAH/kg. The maximum price was 17.20 UAH/kg.
Accordingly, the weighted average price of the three grades was 17.30 UAH/kg excluding VAT, which is 0.70 UAH more than in the previous month.
Georgy Kukhaleyshvili notes that, unlike last year, when the market saw active demand for raw milk and purchase prices were rising, at the beginning of September 2025, there was no high demand from dairy processing enterprises, and raw milk did not increase significantly in price over the past month. Dairy processing enterprises are working on a warehouse basis, and the existing supply fully covers the demand for dairy products in Ukraine. In September, Ukraine almost did not export dairy products to the EU against the background of the restoration of customs duties, the exhaustion of quotas after the European Commission abolished autonomous trade measures (ATMs) and the decline in world prices for butter, powdered milk and other dairy products.
